December holiday party and January book selection
Hello, book club members!
December there is no meeting, however you are all invited to join the Café et Conversation group at their annual Christmas party. It will be the 13th of December at Lucy's home in Sommières. Directions and a map are below.

Our January meeting will be held at Noël's home (if memory serves ... I will verify this and email you the final location if I'm wrong.) Directions will be following via email.
The book is The Host by Stephenie Meyers. It's science fiction and available in both English and French.
As mentioned in the last meeting, I recommend you read a little bit about the book's premise before you actually read the book. It will make the beginning of it a little easier to follow. I'm going to include that info below for you in this Description. It doesn't give the whole plot away, just familiarizes you with the concept.

Christmas Party details
The Christmas party is coming! Saturday, 13 December 2014. Aperos at 19h00, dinner at 20h00. Please bring your favorite food and drink to share, sweet or salty, appetizer, main dish, or dessert. RSVP ASAP by return email with number of people and dish you will bring.
WHERE: 99 chemin de Calais, Sommières. (it's not 'Impasse de Calais'), behind the château. Map attached.
At our FOURTH annual Café et Conversation Christmas party, the 13th of December (Saturday), 19h00, at Lucy and Jim's house in Sommières, we will play the Secret Santa game, just as we did last year. It was a great success, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Here are the rules, if you want to participate. It is not required, but we encourage you to join in, since it is so much fun.
1. Bring a Christmas gift (value of 10 euros or less), wrapped, but with no name on it. Bring one gift per person.
2 When you arrive at the party, exchange your gift for a number. Either Lucy or Leigh will have the numbers. Keep this number until the game starts.
3. When the game begins, the person with #1 will select a gift from the pile of wrapped presents and unwrap it, showing everyone what she has.
4 . The person with #2 will have a choice. She will either select a new gift from the pile and unwrap it, or "steal" the gift from player #1. If she chooses to steal the gift from player #1, then player #1 will select another gift from the pile and unwrap it.
5. The person with #3 continues, either "stealing" a gift from #1 or #2 , or selecting a new gift.
6. The game continues until the last person finishes. Then, at the very end, #1 has another opportunity to steal a gift from anyone in the room if she wants.
NOTE: If you have a family of 5, you should bring 5 gifts so everyone can participate; or, you could just bring one gift for the family and participate as 1 player.
